Bio

Grant Adams is an American artist born in 1977. He was raised in Indiana, Louisiana, and Michigan, and has traveled extensively throughout the U.S. He studied Art and Advertising at Brigham Young University and graduated with a BFA in 2004. He went on to study Arts Administration at Southern Utah University, graduating with an MFA in 2008.

Travel and exploration continued to be a major part of his life early in his career. After completing short stints at nonprofit arts organizations in Utah, New York, and Arizona, Adams began working at NINE dot ARTS, an art consulting firm in Denver. Since 2011 he has curated art collections for corporate clients across the country.

During a work sabbatical in 2020, he spent two weeks creating artworks while living at a Buddhist meditation center in the mountains of north central New Mexico. Living in isolation in a cave at the hermitage initiated a change in practice and approach to making art. The experience led him to explore and embrace eastern tradition and philosophy. Newer works are examinations of the individual and collective society, and seek to find harmony in opposing forces.

Adams lives in Denver, Colorado and works as a curator and artist.

Artist Statement

I want to examine the beauty and horror of this world, to honor that which is sacred, and laugh at all that is absurd.
